Traditional Funerals
A traditional funeral would typically be a service in a church, cemetery or crematorium chapel followed by either a burial or cremation with the body and coffin being transported by hearse.
MW Funeral Directors can help you plan exactly the right funeral from a simple cremation for close family to an elaborate, well-attended church funeral with funeral cortège.
When you choose MW Funeral Directors to perform a funeral we will be there to help make the funeral arrangements. We will be your only point of contact and will liaise with you and the relevant authorities to ensure that all preparations are made and paperwork is filed. We have found that this helps reduce the stress on families during the times immediately after a bereavement.
We are there to support, guide and advise you and will be only a phone call away if needed.

Green Funerals
A green funeral usually involves a biodegradable coffin and burial in a natural setting or on private land. The ceremony might be led by a minister, celebrant or friend followed by the burial.
MW Funeral Directors have specialist knowledge in preparing and performing green burials and can advise on types of coffin from cardboard to willow and even bamboo or seagrass.
The beauty of a green burial is its simplicity and its sense of ‘back to nature’. The guests at a green burial might be encouraged to get involved by, for example, interlacing flowers into the willow weave of the coffin or helping fill in the grave.
As the body decays it becomes part of the living earth where trees and plants live and grow.

Humanist Funerals
Humanist funerals are popular with people who do not subscribe to any religion.
Whether the funeral service is religious or not, a Funeral Director's job remains the same- to help make arrangements and to support and advise you from the moment of death to interment whilst ensuring that all paperwork has been filed.
MW Funeral Directors are well versed in helping people of different beliefs arrange funerals. Our view is that a funeral should be a fitting ceremony that reflects a person’s life and our role is to help you orchestrate that.

Atheist Funerals
Atheist funerals are similar to humanist funerals and so will focus on the life of the person who has died. Obviously there are no religious readings or hymns but favourite songs are often played and poems are often read.
It is your Funeral Director’s job to make the funeral arrangements and to advise and support you in orchestrating a fitting service for the deceased whilst ensuring that all paperwork has been filed.

Alternative Funerals
Funeral services no longer need to be held in church. The deceased does not need to be transported in a black hearse. People do not have to wear black and you don’t have to sing hymns. These days non-religious funerals have become more popular and with them have come more diverse styles of funeral service.
MW Funeral Directors will provide expert advice and support to you and your family if you are preparing an alternative-style funeral. We will ensure that the relevant authorities have been notified and can help make the funeral arrangements.
